Shopping in Barbados runs from the duty-free counters of Bridgetown to roadside stalls and local makers. The things worth carrying home are the ones made here: rum, hot sauce, and craft, rather than the same brands sold everywhere.

What to look for

Bridgetown and the cruise terminal cover the duty-free jewellery and liquor. For something of the island, look for local rum, Bajan pepper sauce, and craft from island makers. The markets are where the produce and the character are, and they are worth a wander even if you buy nothing.
